Privacy policy
Effective date: 11 July 2026
The short version. sweetRegret keeps your treat logs and settings on your phone. There is no account, no advertising, and no tracking. Apple processes Plus purchases, and RevenueCat anonymously validates subscription access. Neither receives your treat logs.
What we collect
sweetRegret has no accounts, advertising, or cross-app tracking. We do not receive your name, email address, payment details, treat logs, custom treats, reminders, or app preferences.
If you use sweetRegret Plus, Apple processes the purchase and RevenueCat receives the purchase and technical information needed to validate and manage your subscription. This can include product identifiers, transaction and receipt information, subscription status, app version, operating system, device type, country, and an anonymous app-user identifier. We use this only for app functionality and aggregate purchase analytics.
What's stored on your device
Everything the app remembers is stored locally on your iPhone:
- Your treat logs (what you tapped, and when).
- Your settings and preferences.
This data lives on your device. It is not uploaded anywhere.
When your app data leaves your device
Your treat data only leaves your phone when you choose to send it out:
- Export. You can export your data as a JSON file.
- Share. You can share a recap image (like your Sugar Wrapped card).
Both happen through the standard iOS share sheet, to a destination you pick — a note, a message, another app. We never see any of it, and it goes only where you send it.
Notifications
The optional evening check-in reminder is a local notification — your phone reminds itself. There is no push server and no account involved; we never send you anything.
- iOS notification permission is requested only if and when you turn the reminder on in Settings — never at launch or during onboarding.
- The reminders are scheduled entirely on your device and contain no personal data — just a cookie-flavoured nudge to log.
- Turn the reminder off in Settings and everything scheduled is cancelled.
Device backups
If you back up your iPhone (via iCloud or your computer), that backup may include the app's data, the same way it includes data from your other apps. This is standard iOS behaviour and is handled by Apple, not by us.
Purchases and sweetRegret Plus
In-app purchases are processed by Apple under Apple's privacy policy and terms. RevenueCat processes purchase receipts and subscription status so the app can unlock, restore, and manage Plus access. sweetRegret never receives your full payment-card information, and no treat data is sent with purchase information.
RevenueCat's anonymous identifier is not connected to a sweetRegret account because the app has no account system. RevenueCat may retain purchase records as needed to provide subscription functionality and meet legal obligations. You can review RevenueCat's privacy policy and Apple's privacy policy.
Retention and deletion
Your treat logs and preferences remain on your device until you delete them in the app or remove the app. Purchase records are retained by Apple and RevenueCat according to their policies and legal obligations. Deleting local app data does not cancel an Apple subscription; subscriptions can be managed from the app's Settings screen or in your Apple ID subscription settings.
Children
sweetRegret is a lighthearted wellness app for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect names, contact details, or treat data from children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the effective date at the top.
